Learn more about AdBlue®
AdBlue®, also known as AUS 32 or DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid), is a liquid that aids in the conversion of harmful NOx molecules from untreated exhaust into harmless nitrogen and water; these transformed compounds are then released from the tailpipe as steam.

What happens if you run out of AdBlue® in your Bobcat equipment?
When AdBlue® levels are low, several alerts will warn the operator:
- With less than 25% of AdBlue® in the reservoir, the operator will see the first warning signal on the panel. (the reservoir level icon will turn from green to orange)
- With less than 10% of AdBlue®, the first level derate is applied, which means a 25% torque limit (the reservoir level icon will turn from orange to red).
- With less than 2.5% of AdBlue®, the second level derate is applied, with torque limited at 50% and engine speed limited to 60% of the rated speed (the reservoir level icon starts to flash).
A 10L AdBlue® top-up will get the machine back on track with full power and performance.
Kindly remind your customers of this and provide the AdBlue® 10L or 20L as a solution when they are working in the field.
AdBlue® is available to order through the Parts Portal.

Storage Recommendations
AdBlue® has a limited shelf-life ; it is recommendeded to store AdBlue® in a covered dry area, out of direct sunlight and at a temperature between 5°C and 20°C. (Maximum temperature is 30°C).
Avoid AdBlue® crystallization in the SCR System
When exhaust temperatures and exhaust gas flow rates are low, there is a risk of urea deposit formation in the exhaust system and catalyst. To minimize the risk of urea crystallization:
- Avoid long-term storage of used machines without performing proper cleaning and purging of the urea system and its components. (Refer to your Operations Manual for additional information.)
- Avoid frequent starts and stops, especially in low ambient temperatures.
- Avoid running machines at low idle.
